Project Manager

Overall objective of the position:   

Managing the end-to-end delivery of BDO Global IT projects, encompassing both Applications and Infrastructure, that require a high level of project integration.

Key accountabilities:

Performance and progress in the following areas will be the priorities for this position:

  • Manage information technology projects to ensure completion within defined schedules and budgets, in accordance with business requirements, and to information systems standards;
  • Take ownership for and effectively apply BDO Global IT’s project methodology and enforce robust project standards to information technology projects;
  • Development and management of project plans, including progress reviews and milestone achievement, ensuring that all reports are completed on a timely basis for reporting and tracking purposes;
  • Establishing, managing and reporting on project budget. Analysing budget variances and recommending appropriate action;
  • Controlling systems design and project planning activities related to large applications and infrastructure developments;
  • Preparation of project documentation including governance reports, project status reports, presentations, and agendas;
  • Coordinate internal and external project meetings and associated documentation (e.g. meeting minutes, agendas);
  • In conjunction with service desk personnel, assist with the investigation and resolution of project-related incidents and service requests;
  • Controlling quality methodologies to ensure that IT solutions meets the required business and technical standards;
  • Managing all associated project integration activities (including contracted resources) and systems integration;
  • Managing full testing and implementation activities to ensure a quality product is delivered;
  • Own and manage the projects RAIDD process by identifying, prioritising and mitigating project issues and risks;
  • Manage stakeholder communication and expectations for the life of the program or project lifecycle.

 

Qualifications, Experience, Skills:

  • Tertiary qualifications required (e.g. University IT degree), and vendor-aligned technical qualifications in a Project Management discipline (e.g. PMI CAPM/PMP or PRINCE2, Agile) desirable;
  • Fundamental knowledge of the ITIL framework and/or service management approaches. ITIL certification preferred;

Experience & Skills:

  • Effectively demonstrates leadership, teamwork, problem solving, initiative and integrity;
  • Strong understanding of business requirements;
  • Demonstrated experience managing multiple concurrent projects and project coordinators within the BDO program;
  • Experience working with multiple third-party vendors and partners to deliver complex information technology projects;
  • Understanding of systems development methodologies and architecture;
  • Experience transitioning technology solutions into operational environments;
  • Ability to establish and adhere to strict project timeframes;
  • Demonstrate the ability to balance priorities among competing needs whilst providing the highest level of value to BDO;
  • Strong Negotiation and dispute resolution skills;
  • Financial literacy to forecast and manage project budgets;
  • Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills, including the ability to influence and drive other team members.
