At our most recent PHP practice our colleague Vilius Grižas gave a presentation on unit testing, integration testing and TDD, as well as a live coding demonstration.
He demonstrated the concept of Test-Driven Development and how important it is to write the tests for our code before writing the code itself.
“First write the tests and while writing them you can understand the business logic behind what you’re doing.”
When writing tests first, we can see when the tests are failing and then write the code that is missing.
We discussed that it is important to think of problems that may occur in our code and then we write the tests for those problems in order to prevent them.
